Take a look at these amazing photos and jolly selfies of my passengers here.
I fly with the Cambridge University Gliding Club CUGC (Facebook). I fly gliders (sailplanes) and touring motor gliders (TMGs), as well as single engine light aircraft (SEPs). I have the Part-SFCL SPL (sailplane pilot’s licence) with the TMG class rating, as well as Part-FCL PPL(A) with SEP(Land) and TMG class ratings. I have an Introductory Flight Pilot endorsement which means I can conduct experience flights in a motor glider. I have taken over 40 customers to the skies for the first time.
We operate from the Gransden Lodge Airfield.
Conditions permitting, I give my customers the option of where to go. Motor gliders operate similarly to any light aircraft and we can travel to places during your experience flight rather than being confined within gliding range to the airfield. Cambridge is a popular destination where you can see the historical city centre from the air, but other destinations can be arranged upon request.
Visibility in the motor glider is excellent. It is better than most, if not all, powered light aircraft and is not comparable to a commercial airliner. In practice, you will be limited by how much your head could turn.
If you are interested in getting an experience flight, please get in touch with CUGC at [email protected]. Experience flights organised through CUGC has a package price, which includes:
- Meet and greet in Cambridge.
- Transport outbound.
- Safety briefing.
- Paperwork handling.
- Flying, the duration of your flight we quote is from take-off to landing, rather than ‘block-to-block’ as is usually the case for commercial operators. You don’t pay for time spent on the ground.
- Transport back to Cambridge.
You will fly with me if you sign up for an experience flight in the motor glider. I don’t do trial flights in gliders.
Alternatively, if that doesn’t work for you, you can reach out to me directly at [email protected]. I will still organise your experience flight through CUGC.
