Tianhou Wang MEng BA(Hons) AMIMechE

An engineering PhD candidate of Christ’s College, University of Cambridge (and an undergraduate here too). Holds the office of the Chief Troublemaker of the Whittle Laboratory and Equipment Officer of the Cambridge University Gliding Club. Came from China, culture of which he loves very much that blogging in English makes him feel guilty. Spent his “gap year” confusingly in the University of Hong Kong, before which he remained strictly a domestic student. Specialised in aerothermal engineering, and getting excited about all kinds of powerful machinery, especially aircraft. A glider pilot who holds a Part-SFCL SPL with TMG privileges and an IFP rating, a Nikon user, and owns a Volvo V70 since he sold the Ford Fusion.

Top of his class for the 1A, 1B, and 2A of the Engineering Tripos, sadly not 2B because the Tripos were cancelled due to COVID-19,  a proud winner of the Winifred Georgina Holgate Pollard Memorial Prize (twice) and the Rex Moir Prize.

Still developing his professional engineering skills like it always has been. The archaeologists who follow this site can still dig up those naïve attempts to tutorials on various topics which gradually shifted from IT and general interest to the academic side. He will try his best to guarantee the correctness of such content, but the level which he touches with sufficient confidence may be basic in the eyes of persons with high levels of technical expertise. If this happens to you, he would appreciate a comment or two.

This blog also contains his personal interest, which again, confusingly lies in discrete areas which you would not expect any relationship normally except the blogger and his blog. He would not explain, nor is he able to explain how come he has developed an interest like this, from airplanes to web hosting to photography, but one would guess it is just because he is genuinely fascinated to all sorts of unacquainted stuff. Sadly he is having less and less free time available over the years to explore.

Typically he will not introduce this site publicly on the web so if you are currently visiting, chances are good that you know him personally, since he is, at the moment, not popular enough to pop out on Google, although as of 2022 this might have changed a little. It is always a struggle for him to introduce himself and he really appreciates his interviewer in university admission for sparing him from the effort. Maybe you will be able to familiarise yourself with him from the lines, or several sides of him at least, which is an ability he has always envied about. Or maybe you just came here for interesting posts, which he will try his best to satisfy.

Here originally was an apology for his poor English. He is dropping it now, not because he has improved his English, but his confidence.
